Analysis of Knowledge, Infectious Disease, Pattern Food to Nutritious Status among Adolescent in Surya Mitra Husada Kediri Health College

Abstract

Adolescents are among those who are vulnerable to nutritional problems. Along with the increase in the youth population in Indonesia, adolescent nutrition problems need special attention because it affects the growth and development of the body and its impact on adult nutritional problems. The purpose of the study was to analyze the factors that determine the nutritional status of adolescents at The College of Health "Surya Mitra Husada" Kediri. The design used in the study was Cross Sectional. The population is all adolescents at The College of Health "Surya Mitra Husada" Kediri for 143 students. The sample size was 105 respondents, using simple random sampling. Independent variables was diet, knowledge of adolescents, and infectious diseases. Dependent variable was nutritional status. Data was collected using a questionnaire, then the data were analyzed using a binary logistic regression test ? 0,05. The majority of respondents had a good level of knowledge about nutrition, amounting to 88 people (83,8%), never suffering from infection, which amounted to 55 (52,4%), good diet amounting to 76 people (72,4%) and had normal nutritional status, amounting to 72 people (68,6%). The results showed that influence of knowledge level (p = 0,000), disease infection (p = 0,001) and diet (p = 0,000) on adolescent nutritional status. The most dominant factor affecting adolescent nutrition status is the level of knowledge (p = 0,000; OR = 39,868). Diet, knowledge of adolescents and infectious diseases can influence nutritional status in adolescents so that it influences the growth and development of adolescents later.
