Contribution of Energy and Protein Intake at School Feeding and House Feeding in Children aged 4-6 years

Abstract

Organizing a meal in school has a special characteristic because besides eating, children also learning how to know and love the food, use the tableware, and implement the table manner. At the age of 4-6 years, children are the active consumers that is already able to choose and refuse the food so that the implementation of good eating behavior can be implemented. The purpose of this study is to find the Contribution of energy and protein intake at school feeding and house feeding in children aged 4-6 years. The method of this study was cross sectional study design at Taman Kanak-kanak Nurul Muslimin, in Sub- district of Sungai Raya, West Kalimantan, May - June 2017. Total sample 80 children was chosen by using simple random sampling. The result of this study showed that the contribution of energy intake of preschool children at school feeding was higher than house feeding with the difference 24,2 %. Moreover, the contribution of protein intake of preschool children at school feeding was higher than house feeding with the difference 29,6 %. For increase the energy and protein consumption, it is necessary to give the information about meal organizing in school.
